All About the 2026 Oscars
The biggest night in Hollywood is almost here! Your favorite actors hit the red carpet in 30 days as Oscars nominations have fans anticipating the announcement of their favs getting called up to the iconic stage.
As always the Oscars will be held in the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, this makes for the 98th Oscar awards! This year’s host is no other than the hilarious Conan O’Brien, the talented comedian who comes back to fulfill his role as host after hosting the 2025 show. The host hints at new surprises for this year as well, “ There’ll be some explosions, CGI will be used. I see this second oscars as an opportunity to take it up a notch” O’brein states.
This year nominations are competing at high stakes:
Sinners is taking the lead with 16 nominations, this vampire drama is directed by ryan coogler and has broken world records with it’s nominations even being recognized by guinness world records , These nominations include, best actor, for Micheal B. Jordan , this talented actor played not one but 2 characters in this horror film, Delroy Lindo, the iconic actor known for “ Malcolm X” and “The good fight” is nominated for best supporting actor, supporting actress for sinners is Wunmi Mosaku, who is best known for the hit marvel series “loki” and “lovecraft country”. This makes 1’st Oscar nominations for Mosaku and Lindo.
“Honestly, I’m still processing all that stuff, man, “ Jordan says. The nominations feel really great because I know how much everybody poured into this movie everyday. For something so specific to be loved so universally is great”
Next movie up is One battle after another leading with 13 nominations, this black comedy film gains lead with its mix of action and thriller, directed by Paul thomas anderson who is also nominated for best director, this film stars legendary actor leonardo decapio who plays a washed up former revolutionary, this complex character earned him his Oscar nomination for best actor, Teyana Taylor also stars as a strong willed leader, her captivating performance earns her first oscar nomination in best supporting actress. One battle after another also takes lead in “best sound”, “ Best original score” and “Best cinematography” This film leads neck in neck with sinners after winning acclaimed awards like BAFTAS.
“Because nominations are traditionally read in alphabetical order my name is always last” Taylor jokes, “so after reading the forth name i was like, “ oh my god” and they said my name and we all started screaming. I lost my voice for maybe like four or five days.”
Other films like “Bugonia”, “Hamnet” “Marty supreme” and “sentimental value” are also racing in the best picture categories. Animated movies like “kpop demon hunters” which took the word by storm are nominated for best original song (Golden) and nominated for best animated feature. Competing with this film also are “Elio” and “Zootopia 2”. 2025/26 was a year of the most influential movies, breathtaking scenes, iconic actors, catchy music, fans everywhere await as the Oscars gets ready for its debut on March 15th, Who are you rooting for ?
